TABLETOP GANPATI AVATAAR
DIY | The Morya Project
What’s amazing about Ganpati Bappa is that he is so cute, he transcends beyond the Puja room to almost every space of our life. Be it as a good luck charm in the car, an exam savior, a decor element in the house to even an avid Ganesha collection. There are so many amazing beautiful & quirky forms of Ganesha available – you can actually sit down & have a chat over coffee with him. No wonder he is my favorite kinda God!
As a part of ‘The Morya Project’, I am creating a series of DIY Ganpati decor articles. Hope you find it useful!
So, in this DIY article, I cover a very simple but a really beautiful way to spice up your tabletop Ganpati decor.
THERE’s ALWAYS A HERo
While designing, the styling should always be around a HERo element. The objective is to highlight a story you want to weave. Once you have the story, style and design to bring out the HERo in the design. Always remember the Golden Rule: Less is More!
STICK TO A COLOR PALETTE
Color Palette Scheme should match and complement the included elements. Which means that they should work really well together. When integrating, be mindful of the display area color scheme – like the display stand, wall color, furniture etc.
EXPERIMENT WITH PLAY OF MATERIALS
Very interesting displays can be created when we break the monotone of materials. I have used a combination of Pot Pourri & real flowers, an Indian motif silk based table runner, a very interesting small Ganesha idol & blue wooden antique bowl for overall decor
STYLE AS PER THE BACKGROUND
When styling, integrate the display background, tabletop and utility purpose. The design will also vary according the the time of the day. If it is for an evening party, cross verify as to how the design would look against the lights. Designing for utility is also very important. For eg: if it is used as dinner table setting, ensure it doesn’t take up a lot of space and interfere with the dining experience
INCLUDE COLOR POPS!
Add interesting color pops to bring out the hero element in the design
BRING YOUR STYLE
Most important rule – Design & Style is very personal. Bring out your personality in the styling. Don’t be afraid to experiment and be NOT cliché!
Remember, it’s all about Fun & Celebration!
