Burnt Orange Panna Cotta

Silky Caramelized Orange Delight

Panna Cotta, is an Italian cold set dessert . When perfectly made, it is a heavenly combination of silky, creamy taste. And who doesn’t love that adorable wobble!

Panna Cotta is perfect for parties, as it can be made in advance & can be set in single portion glass servings. I love exploring flavors with Panna Cotta. You may also want to try Basil, Jack fruit, Vanilla , Chocolate Pomegranate , Lemongrass flavors.

As it is Christmas time, what better than using oranges ! So Burnt Orange Panna Cotta it is..

Burnt Orange Panna Cotta, has a caramelized orange flavor to it. Garnish it with Orange Chips & transform it into super exotic.

 

INGREDIENTS


Fresh cream – 1 cup (I used Amul fresh cream)

Milk – 1/2 cup

Gelatin powder – 1/2 tbsp

Sugar – 1/4 cup

Water – 1 tbsp

Oranges – 2 nos

Grated peel of one orange

 

METHOD


Orange Chips (Garnish)

  • Slice 1 orange into 5mm thick slices. Sprinkle some sugar over it and Bake in a 100°C preheated oven for 2 hours, or till it gets crisp

Burnt Orange Panna Cotta

  • Take 1 tbsp. room temperature or cold water in a small bowl and sprinkle 1/2 tbsp. gelatin over it and set it aside for 5 minutes to bloom
  • Boil the juice of 1 orange in a saucepan on a high flame
  • As the juice boils on high flame, you will notice a burnt smell. Don’t worry, it is the delicious goodness of caramelization
  • Let the juice reduce to half
  • To this, add milk & cream. Just heat the milk. Do not boil it
  • Add sugar & grated orange peel to this. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the bloomed gelatin. Keep stirring & let the gelatin dissolve
  • Rub the cream mixture between two fingers to make sure gelatin is dissolved
  • Sieve this mixture into a jug to remove any leftover particles of gelatin and the orange peel
  • Pour this mixture equally into the glasses.
  • Let it sit on the counter top for 15 minutes and the refrigerate it overnight

Assembly

  • To serve, add the orange chip over the Panna Cotta and serve chilled
