Crazy Things To Do On Mother's Day

Top 10 | Go Wild

We don’t usually ask you to wing it, but there’s a reason why we made this list of crazy things to do on Mother’s Day.

Last year, before Mother’s Day, we at Purple Velvet Project started talking about what we thought is the awesome thing to do for our moms.

Ideas for DIY cards, glammed up photo shoots, really special gifts… they all raced through our heads and we tore off to get them all going. But in our harebrained hurry, we messed it up. And last, none of us actually had anything we planned ready on Mother’s day.

But the thing with this is, it sets your mind free.

We went home with nothing but ourselves, and ended up spending time with mom doing the craziest things! That’s why we put together this list of crazy things to do on Mother’s Day – for people who don’t want to (or can’t, like us!) plan ahead, but sure would love to let loose with mom!

1. SEAL YOUR LOVE WITH A TATTOO… OR EVEN A FAKE ONE

Yes, your mom may like the idea of inking, even if she hasn’t done it before. Try out matching designs that remind you of your relationship or an interest you share. You can even get each other’s names tattooed on. And yeah, if you really want a tattoo but she is squeamish, convince her to stand by you as you get inked. Almost like the old days when she used to hold your hand as you got your shots, right?

2. GET A MATCHING CUT AND COLOR

Mom-daughter spas and mani-pedis are all good, but nothing spells dramatic makeover like a new hairdo. And while you both are at it, go for a coloring treatment as well. Nothing brings out your mom’s eyes better than those highlights in her hair, except maybe the sight of you with foil in your hair beside her.

3. GO ON A ROLLER COASTER RIDE AND JUST SCREAM!

Remember those days when you would beg to go the fairground for the cotton candy and the giant wheel, and of course the roller coaster? Relive those experiences; find a fair or theme park near you and go crazy!

4. TAKE HER BAR HOPPING

There’s no better way to let lose than to go bar hopping with your girlfriends, so how about you do that with your bestest bestie since the day you were born?

5. SET OFF ON AN IMPROMPTU BACKPACKING TRIP WITH MOM

Has Mother always had a streak of adventure under the firm mommy vibes she’s given out? Be a part of this other side of her; pack up your backpacks and hit the trails

6. LET YOUR HAIR DOWN AT A CLUB

She may have been a dancing queen once, but there’s no reason why she shouldn’t be one now. Find her dancing shoes, doll her up and head off to a club near you that plays whatever your mom finds good to groove to

7. WATCH A FOREIGN LANGUAGE MOVIE – WITHOUT SUBTITLES

Mom’s a movie buff? How bout you find a theatre that plays French art-house classics and book two tickets? If nothing is playing near you, you can always Netflix and chill. Without the subtitles makes it more fun. You can make up the dialogues whenever you want to goof around.

8. SHOP TOGETHER FOR 15 THINGS WITH JUST 1000 BUCKS

Nothing like a mother-daughter sesh of retail therapy, so why not up the ante a bit and make a game out of it? Pick a budget and get as many things as possible in the amount. You may have to throng the fleas and the open air markets for this, but it is just the sort of urban adventure that perks up Mother’s Day.

9. SWAP CLOTHES WITH MOM

She may be a seasoned old clotheshorse, but you can still pull some tricks out of your sleeve. Exchange clothes and spend the day mixing, matching and accessorizing. Finish off the fashion-sesh by putting it all together into a look book over a takeout dinner.

10. TREAT HER TO A MIDNIGHT PICNIC DINNER

Why think brunch when you can shake things up a bit and do a midnight feast? And why not go one up and hold it outdoors while you are at it? Surprise your mom at 12 sharp with a no-fuss but yummy spread in the garden or the terrace. Put on the candles or the fairy lights, open up the wine (or the coffee, if you have to), play some music and share memories all night.

So, you game for a day of crazy crazy with mom? Let us know what you liked from this list of crazy things to do on Mother’s Day, and which ones you tried.
